MR. OLATUNDE OLADAPO W. HEAD, PUBLIC AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

Mr. Olatunde Oladapo was born in Oyo town, Oyo State on 8th June, 1965. He attended L. A. Primary School, Imeleke via Oyo between 1974 and 1980 for his Primary School Leaving Certificate. He later attended Community High School, Oke-Apo, Oyo between 1980 and 1985 for his secondary school education.

Mr. Olatunde also attended Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo between 1986 and 1987 for his Higher School Certificate. He was offered admission by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State in 1987 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in English in 1991.

In his quest for more knowledge, Mr. Olatunde attended the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos between 1993 and 1995 and was awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Relations in 1995 by the institution.

In 1998, Mr. Olatunde returned to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife for a Master’s degree programme in Public Administration (MPA) which he completed in 1999.

Prior to his appointment into the Lagos State Civil Service in March 2000, as an Information Officer and posted to the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr Olatunde had worked in some organisations in the private sector. Since joining the Service, he has served as a Press and Public Relations Officer in many Agencies of the State Government, including the Local Government Service Commission, Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos State Examinations Board as well as the Press Room of the Ministry of Information and Strategy where he had responsibility for editing Press Releases among other duties until his present posting to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission as Head of the Public Affairs Department of the Commission.

Mr. Olatunde has had an eventful career in the Lagos State Civil Service and has been contributing his quota to the success of the successive administrations in the State through effective information management. Indeed, it was in recognition of his contributions and commitment that he was presented with an award by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in April, 2001.

The award was formally presented to him on behalf of the Department by the then Honourable Commissioner for Education in the State, Prof. Idowu Shobowale.

In his secondary school days, Mr. Olatunde also received many awards, including the awards for the “Best Behaved Boy” and the Best Graduating Student in English. He also emerged as First Prize Winner of the essay competition organised for all Secondary Schools in Oyo Zone (comprising over 100 Secondary Schools) to mark the International Youth Year (I.Y.Y.) in 1985 as a result of which the Parents/Teachers’ Association of his school offered to pay his school fees for the rest of his stay in the school.

Mr. Olatunde is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). His hobbies include reading, writing and meeting people.
